Medium
Tools Needed:
- 3/16 inch Allen wrench (for larger Allen head bolts)
- 5/32 inch Allen wrench (for smaller screws)
- Pick tool
Installation
1. Prepare the Support Brackets:
-
Assemble Each Support Bracket:
-
Insert a bolt through the center hole of the support bracket.
-
Thread a channel nut onto the bolt from the backside. The direction of the channel nut doesn't matter.
-
Leave the channel nut loose, so it sits above the top of the bracket and can slip into the truck bed hole.
-
-
Repeat the above steps for all three support brackets.
2. Prepare the Truck Bed:
-
Remove the Three Plugs:
-
Locate the three plugs on the side of the truck bed where the panel will be installed.
-
Use a pick tool to depress the tab under the edge of each plug.
-
Pull out the plugs carefully.
-
Store the plugs in a safe place; they will not be reused.
-
3. Install the Mounting Brackets:
-
Insert Each Support Bracket:
-
Align the prepared support bracket with the hole where you removed the plug.
-
Insert the bracket into the hole, ensuring any wire pass-through slots are oriented as needed.
-
Rotate the channel nut inside the cavity by 90 degrees to lock it in place.
-
Tighten the Bolt:
-
Once the bracket is seated and the channel nut is locked, tighten the bolt using the 3/16 inch Allen wrench.
-
Ensure the bracket is snug against the bed wall.
-
-
-
Repeat for the remaining two support brackets.
-
Note: The back of the support brackets is contoured to match the cavity of the bed for a secure fit.
4. Install the Bedside Panel:
-
Position the Panel:
- Lift the panel and align it with the installed support brackets.
- Ensure the top slots of the panel line up with the holes in the support brackets.
-
Secure the Panel:
-
Start with the Center Screw:
-
Insert the center bolt through the panel into the center support bracket.
-
Use the 5/32 inch Allen wrench to start the bolt, allowing the panel to hang.
-
-
Install Remaining Fasteners:
-
Insert the remaining five bolts into the support brackets.
-
Leave all bolts loosely installed to allow for adjustment.
-
-
Start with the Center Screw:
-
Adjust and Tighten:
- Adjust the panel side-to-side to your desired position.
- Once aligned, tighten all six bolts securely.
5. Install Accessory Space Fillers (If Not Using a Tonneau Cover or Bed Cap):
-
Purpose:
-
These fillers provide a finished look in the spaces designed for clamps used by tonneau covers, bed caps, or bed racks.
-
-
Installation:
- Place the accessory space fillers into the cutout spaces at the top of the panel.
-
Secure them as per the instructions provided (typically by inserting them into place).
-
Note:
-
If you are using clamps for a tonneau cover or bed cap, these space fillers are not needed.
-
The panel's design accommodates most clamps by providing cutout spaces.
-
6. Install the Rubber Bumper:
-
Purpose:
-
Prevents the panel from swinging inward and contacting the bedside, especially when gear is mounted.
-
-
Installation:
- Choose a suitable location on the lower part of the panel where the bumper will not interfere with mounted gear.
- Insert the Rubber Bumper into one of the panel's slots.
- Ensure it is securely in place.
- OPTIONAL: Install threaded insert for a more solid mounting point.
- Using the included hand tool:
- Thread the insert onto the provided tool using the bolt and nut assembly.
- Insert into the hole and hold the nut with a 1/2 inch wrench.
- Tighten the bolt to cinch the insert in place.
- Using the specialty tool (recommended):
- Use the tool to press the insert into the hole, ensuring it stays straight.
- Once installed, the insert should be firmly seated.
- Refer to included instructions on usage
