Installation
1. Mocking Up the Installation:
-
Choose a side: You can install the kit on either the passenger or driver's side (passenger side is demonstrated).
-
Wipe down the tow hook: Ensure it’s clean for a good clamp fit.
-
Positioning the bracket:
- Hold the bracket up to the tow hook.
- Center the plate between the two sensors.
- Align the slot with the tow hook.
2. Assembling the Bracket:
-
Insert the nuts:
- Insert 4 nuts into the back of the front bracket.
- The production parts will have a snug fit.
- Position the backplate behind the tow hook.
-
Attach the front plate:
- Place it over the tow hook with the "snout" towards the top to clamp the tow hook in between the mounting pieces.
- Position the mounting plate over the front bracket, aligning it with the slot.
3. Bolting It Up:
- Insert bolts with washers into all four corners of the mounting plate and finger-tighten them.
- Tighten the bolts using the 5/32 inch Allen key: Expect a snug fit due to the Nylock nuts.
- Ensure a uniform gap between the top and bottom of the clamped parts for a secure fit.
4. Attaching Your License Plate:
-
Mount the license plate:
- If using the BuiltRight license plate frame, insert the small screws with washers through the frame and the plate.
- Start the screws loosely in all four corners, then tighten them.
- Note: Sometimes powder coating can make it harder to start the screws—be patient and use gentle pressure.
5. Adjusting and Finalizing the Installation:
-
Mounting flexibility:
- You can adjust the plate up, down, or side-to-side within the mounting envelope.
- The positioning demonstrated is a good starting point.
-
Test for sensor interference:
- If the proximity sensors trigger on your dash, you may need to adjust the placement slightly.
