The BuiltRight Bedside Accessory Rail (BAR) is the most modular truck bedside mounting platform available.
What’s Included:
- 4 Support Brackets
- 2 Extrusion Rails
- Hardware Kit:
- 1/4"-20 Button Head Screws
- T-slot Nuts
- Box Link Hardware (bolts, optional fresh hardware)
- Washers
- Plastic End Caps with Push-In Clips
- Allen key for 1/4"-20 screws
- Torx bits (for Box Link bolts)
Note: You may reuse your factory Box Link hardware if desired. If you use fresh hardware, applying anti-seize is recommended.
Tools & Additional Materials Needed:
- Ratchet and extension
- Appropriate Torx bits (as provided)
- Tape measure
- Anti-seize compound (optional but recommended)
Installation:
1. Prepare the Bedside:
- Locate the Box Link mounting points in your truck bed.
- Optionally, insert fresh Box Link bolts with a touch of anti-seize if you are not reusing OEM hardware.
- Loosely install the 2 bottom Box Link bolts in each bracket location (without the bracket for now) to help measure the spacing and hold the brackets in temporarily.
2. Measure Bracket Spacing:
- Measure the center-to-center distance between the two sets of Box Link bolts where the brackets will mount. *Note this measurement as it will help you position the brackets on the extrusion before final installation.
- Also measure the clearance to ensure the extrusion is not biased too far forward or backward. Adjust as needed to maintain desired alignment.
3. Pre-Assemble the Rail & Brackets:
- Slide the required T-slot nuts into the extrusion’s channel.
- Place a bracket at one end of the extrusion (this will be your rear bracket).
- Loosely thread in the 1/4"-20 button head screws with washers through the bracket into the T-slot nuts.
- Measure from the end of the extrusion to match the previously recorded spacing.
- Snug the bracket once spaced correctly and aligned.
- Repeat the process for the front bracket, ensuring both brackets match the measured spacing.
- Ensure both brackets face the correct orientation (matching the orientation in the bed).
4. Install Plastic End Caps:
- Press the plastic end cap onto the extrusion end.
- Secure it with the provided push-in tree clips for a finished look.
(You can do this step after mounting as well, but it’s easier beforehand.)
5. Final Installation in the Truck:
- Apply anti-seize to the Box Link bolts if desired.
- Lift the assembled rail (extrusion + brackets) into position, aligning bracket holes with the pre-installed bottom Box Link bolts.
- Start by threading in at least one top bolt on each bracket to hold the assembly in place.
- Insert the remaining bolts and washers into the brackets.
- Tighten all bolts evenly, ensuring the rail sits level and properly aligned.
- Do not overtighten; snug is sufficient since these bolts thread into the Box Link inserts.
- Repeat on opposite side.
Finishing Up:
- Double-check all hardware for proper tightness.
- Confirm the rail is aligned as desired.
- Your BuiltRight Industries Bedside Accessory Rail is now ready for use. Outfit it with compatible accessories to customize your truck’s cargo management system.
